Oh yeah, that's probably the main perk - what draws expats to Panamá.

There are a few factors...the cost of living is low, the country uses the US Dollar and it is a relatively stable democracy (compared to most other Central American countries)....Also there is a variety of microclimates.....you can choose from sunny California, dry Arizona or spring in Colorado all in a tiny country!!!.....Come visit!!!

Oh I'm familiar with Panama - I spent a lot of time over there. Beautiful country, I actually touch on it a bit on next weeks article.

You did your homework. Thank you for this information. My husband will find this invaluable while we're deciding where to relocate. He does not like my first (and really only choice) for Colombia so I suspect the Dominican is back on our radar.

Thank you for your read and comment. The great thing about Latin America is the short flights to other nearby countries. Live in one - travel to the other(s) is a good option.

Until you just said something simple yet profound for me. This may have gone unexplored. My focus was so honed in on Colombia I never thought about how easy it is to go from country to country from there.

I'm so used to the long distances here in the U.S. and getting from point a to point b by car… I stopped thinking out of the box. It might be the obvious to most. But for me, difficulty in relocating at 67 is challenging. More so than when I was 27 or 57. Thank you for this.

Also another cool thing for wherever you do choose - you could also do domestic trips. As like the states having many different cities and towns, so much of Latin American countries are like that, especially Colombia (very diverse). Explore all the nearby countries, you and your husband will love it.

Oh there will be much to explore, of this I'm certain. The main issue right now is finding "the place" to start learning if it will work for relocating. Colombia is huge. Just researching it alone has taken quite sometime. If luck prevails I'll be taking a trip there soon to start my boots on the ground exploring. D.R. is more what I think my husband would enjoy. This first trip I'll be going solo.

I spent time in Bogota - very nice city, high altitude and gets cold. I understand what you mean about it being a huge country and it can take some time to figure out where to live. My only advice is keep options open. Dominican Republic is a good choice.

I agree. The Dominican is an excellent choice, it's beautiful and I know someone (you) if I have questions. So there's that.

Yes, it can really cold in Bogata. I'm interested in Medellin.
